A new Daniel Crommie with Leslie Gray album "Harbinger" to be released Tuesday, November 4th. The third installment of their collaborations featuring winds (concert flute, alto flute, tin whistle), strings (electric violin, viola and cello) and electronics has 11 tracks of ambient instrumentals in a dark trance/chill mode. Radius is the eighth album from Direct Current Sound Collective (DC Sound Collective). A mix of progressive electronics with jazz inflections including stalwart members Eldon Hardenbrook (bass, guitars, keyboards) and Daniel Crommie playing flutes, keyboards and other instruments - and featuring contributions from Colin Henson on guitars (ex-Jade Warrior), Leslie Gray played cello and electric violin (Saturnalia Trio and collaborist with Daniel Crommie), Jon Davis Miller on acoustic guitars, Dave Thatcher on percussion and Stephen Lindberg on electric guitar. This 1984 album was a significant turning point for Daniel Crommie - transitioning from esoteric folk troubadour to eccentric experimental electronic artist. Recorded at Retching Jackal Studio from January 1983 to March 1984 in Portland and engineered by Richard Paige, this was the first project Daniel committed to eight-track tape. Originally released in the summer of 1984 and available on cassette - this is the first time "Polarity" has been in print since 1984. Transferred from the original analogue stereo master at 24/48 resolution by Dave Fulton with audio restoration and mastering by Jamie Haggerty in May 2025. Listen and download at BandCamp.
